Meet the Ventura Team Behind Thistledown Insulation Ventura
We’re a Ventura insulation crew that has worked together long enough to finish each other’s sentences in attics. Some of us came up through the trades, others found our way here from completely different work, but we all share the same operating rule: treat every attic like it belongs to someone we know. That means shoe covers on from the front door to the hatch, drop cloths down the hallway, and a written price in your hand before we unload a single bag. Neil Barron, our owner, hired every person on this page himself. He still rides along on jobs when a Ventura homeowner has a question nobody else can answer.
Our People
Miguel R. – Lead Technician
Miguel has been insulating attics across Ventura County since 2011 and has installed more Owens Corning and Rockwool batts than anyone else on our crew. He holds a current California C-2 insulation contractor credential and is our go-to for tight attic hatches, kneewall cavities, and the odd roofline that fights back. Miguel knows exactly how Ventura’s summer heat loads and winter coastal damp affect R-value choices, and he’ll tell you in plain English why one product makes more sense for your home than another. On weekends he restores a 1972 Ford pickup, and he applies the same patience to a stubborn attic joist as he does to a frozen bolt.
Sarah T. – Senior Installer, Spray Foam Specialist
Sarah leads our spray foam work with Icynene and Demilec systems, and she’s certified on closed-cell application for both brands. She joined Thistledown in 2015 after five years in residential construction, and she’s the person we send when a Ventura homeowner wants a detailed explanation of how open-cell versus closed-cell foam behaves in a 1960s ranch versus a newer tract home. Sarah is known across the crew for her prep work: masking, sealing, and protecting surfaces before the first drop of foam leaves the gun. She keeps a photo album on her phone of every clean-up she’s done, and she’s happy to show you before and after shots of your own attic floor.
Dana K. – Service Coordinator
Dana is the voice on the phone when you call Thistledown Insulation Ventura at (341) 217-4867, and she has been with the Cedarwell-family network since 2018. She answers live, day or night, because that is the rule here: no voicemail trees, no next-business-day callbacks. Dana schedules every Ventura estimate, confirms who will be at your door and when, and makes sure each job file includes your written price before any crew member sets foot in your house. She grew up in Oxnard and knows the neighborhoods well enough to offer real arrival windows, not vague promises. Outside work, Dana runs a small coastal cleanup group and can tell you which Ventura beach needs the most help after a long weekend.
Leo P. – Apprentice Installer
Leo is our newest crew member, apprenticing under Miguel since 2023 after two years in commercial roofing. He’s earning his hours toward full installer status, and he has already logged work across all eight of our brand lines: Owens Corning, Johns Manville, Knauf, Rockwool, CertainTeed, Icynene, Demilec, and GreenFiber. Leo handles air sealing prep, batt cutting, and the long crawl to the far eave where nobody else wants to go. He’s the person who double-checks that your pet is comfortable before we start, because he has a rescue dog at home and knows how much noise matters to a nervous animal. Neil says Leo reminds him of himself in 2003: early, covered in fiberglass dust, and asking good questions.
One Standard, Every Job
Thistledown is the soft fluff of a thistle seed, one of nature’s lightest insulators. Our name is the standard we hold ourselves to. Every Ventura crew member works under the same Cedarwell Care Promise: shoe covers and drop cloths inside the home, photos of the clean-up before we leave, pet-safe product options where a choice exists, and quiet tools when children are sleeping. We ask before we move or touch anything. We explain the price before the work begins. And if something is not done right, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means we make it right. No debate, no fine print. Neil Barron, Owner, has kept it that way since 2003, and the crew on this page would not have it any other way.
